  Rev. Robin R. Meyers, PhD is pastor of First Congregational Church UCC of Norman, Oklahoma, and Tenured Distinguished Professor of Social Justice Emeritus in the Philosophy Department at Oklahoma City University.  He is the author of eight books about religion and American culture, including, With Ears Hear:  Preaching as Self Persuasion; Morning Sun on a White Piano:  Simple Pleasures and the Sacramental Life; The Virtue in the Vice:  Finding Seven Lively Virtues in the Seven Deadly Sins; Why the Christ Right is Wrong:  A Minister’s Manifesto for Taking Back your Faith, your Flag, Your Future; Saving Jesus from the ChurchHow to Stop Worshiping Christ and Start Following Jesus; The Underground Church:  Reclaiming the Subversive Way of Jesus; Spiritual Defiance:  Building a Beloved Community of Resistance; and Saving God from Religion:  A Minister’s Search for Faith in a Skeptical Age.

    A trustee of Union Theological Seminary in the City of New York, a fellow of the Westar Institute (home of the Jesus Seminar), a newspaper columnist and commentator for NPR, Dr. Meyers lectures nationally and internationally on the merits of Progressive Christianity, gave the Lyman Beecher Lectures at Yale, and is the subject of a feature-length documentary about the unlikely success of his progressive ministry in perhaps American’s most conservative state:  American Heretics:  The Politics of the Gospel (www.americanhereticsthefilm.com). 

     He is married to Shawn Meyers, an artist and professor, and they are the parents of three children, Blue, Chelsea, and Cass, and now grandparents to three remarkable granddaughters, Iris, Hazel, and Eleanora.
